For instance, take the example of the a Surface Plasmon SPR device from a leading biotech manufacturer that digitalVAR has supported on our customer’s behalf from its introduction.

This device works, by immobilizing one biomolecule on the gold surface, flowing a lower
molecular weight molecule across the surface, and monitoring changes in the gold bound
mass via a total internal reflection laser.
The device is able to gather data on biomolecular interactions such as drug binding to proteins or RNA/DNA exchanges. SPR data could be critical, for instance, to confirm hit data in a drug fragment screening program. Down time on the instrument can cause delays which may jeopardize lab funding or give the upper hand to competitors.
